DIY: FRILLY TIE-A-KNOT VINTAGE TOP

It took me three rounds of serious thrift shop exploration before I finally submit my pocket to this grandma looking scarf top for P35 ($0.80). It's a bit weird on how I go back to the same spot where the top was hung and ran my fingers onto it thrice! I have realized, on the third time, that there so much special about this top -- the print is fabulous and the gold buttons is a simple floral stunner.

My problem now lies on two things: what will I do to give this top a modern look and how to fit-in on this roomy top without the aid of a sewing machine.

WELL, LET ME USE THIS SPACE TO FORMALLY WELCOME! YOU IN MY FIRST-EVER DO IT YOURSELF BLOG POST. Sorry I am shouting (hihihi).

We will focus on three major turn-offs of this top - flair sleeves, big size and one missing button. So what we'll do is to perform three T's - Tweak, Tug and Tie.

1) You will be needing, off course, a "granny" top and two pieces of elastics.

2.) Reverse the top exposing the thread linings. Lay the sleeves in a flat surface.

 3) Tweak the longest point of the sleeves.

4) Tie the portion you gather leaving 2 inches away from the end of the sleeves  (or it depends on length preferences) by using an elastic.

5) Do it on the other sleeves. Make sure that both sides have the same length.

6) Reverse the top. You'll noticed that the tweaking inside makes the sleeves frilly.

7) The last button in the lowest part of the top is missing. Tug and tie the mid-end of the top to conceal the missing button.

8) END-PRODUCT

Have you noticed that the three T's gave the old-fashion top a modern twist? I am surprised on how the actual product looked like and I am so excited to sport the top on my next post. My P35 is worth it! haha.

See you around,
